Welcome to the Home Page of the Craven Vale Community Association, Brighton!
Welcome to cravenvale.org.uk this is the website for all who live in Craven Vale and Baker's Bottom and the surrounding areas in Brighton, East Sussex and is administered by the Craven Vale Community Association. The Association represents all residents of those two areas plus The Causeway, Monument View, Olivier Close, Evelyn Terrace, Cuthbert Road, Dawson Terrace and the top half of Sutherland Road. Our book 'Pride of our Valley' covers all parts of 'The Valley' shown on the map below.
Craven Vale Community Association is recognised by Brighton and Hove City Council as representing all residents of the area, and it also acts as a Tenants Association representing council tenants and leaseholders. We also liaise with the Council and the police as a Local Action Team.
We meet monthly at the Vale Community Centre, 17a Hadlow Close, Brighton at 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month, alternating between open meetings (when every resident is invited, along with our Councillors and representatives of the Council and our PCSOs) and committee meetings. We have an AGM every June or July.
Our main objective is to increase community spirit amongst our 750 or so households, and to help improve the attractiveness and amenities of our area.
The Association works closely with the Queen's Park/Pankhurst Avenue Community Association and produces the QPCV Newsletter three times a year, which is distributed to all residents. It is also closely linked to the Friends of Craven Wood, which lies just to the east of Craven Road.
The Association is responsible for running and administering the Vale Community Centre in Hadlow Close. The Association Committee (2019 - 2020) are .. Alan Cooke, Nick Wood, Betty Field, Christine Harrop, Ian Simpson, Rosemary Johnson, Lee Catt, Sim Elliott & Isabelle Kinsey
We are very grateful to the staff of the Trust for Developing Communities who have helped us to develop this web-site, and who are closely involved with us in all our activities.
