July 5th 2013. Thanks to a grant from the National Heritage Lottery, the Association has been able to publish a book of memories from those who have lived on the Craven Vale Estate for all 60 years, plus some from more recent arrivals; together with a history of the whole valley from the Racecourse Grandstand down to Eastern Road. Many members of the community have come together to produce a fabulous record of 'our valley' and we are pleased to say that every resident received a free copy at the end of May.

If you would like a copy, or another copy, you can either download it as a 14 Mb pdf (use the link at the top of this page), contact us via the contact form, leave a message on 01273 571 573, or collect one from the Vale Community Centre between 11 and 12 on Wednesdays. Copies are also available (free!) from Kemptown Bookshop in St George's Road.

We have now loaded onto this site all the interviews conducted by Ruth and Betty, and referred to in the book. You can choose either to read them, or to listen to them. Click on the 'Interviews' page.

Alan Cooke was interviewed by Radio Reverb about the book - you can hear the interview here.

You can also look at a number of articles relating to the history of Craven Vale, which we will update on a regular basis. Click on the 'Historical Documents' page.

If you have any additional information please send it to us via the 'contact us' form.
